Why must I specify the property type?
Photo service providers specify different charges for handling different types of properties. For example, fees for commercial properties are generally higher than residential properties due to the additional time and expense required.

Residential properties are defined as habitational (dwelling) occupancies from 1 to 10 units. The units do not have to be attached.

Commercial properties include all other occupancies, including but not limited to apartment (over 10 units), retail, manufacturing, and institutional occupancies. All dwellings where the total number of units exceed 10 units are considered commercial properties.

Charges are also specified for streets/intersections and vehicles.

At the time the order is submitted, you must specify the type of property. The quote for our service will be based on the property type you specify. If the property is found to be different when the assignment is completed, FastSnap may change the property type, which may result in an additional charge.

What are "invites" and how can they help me?
You have the option to "invite" two or more photographers to handle a job. There is no limit to the number of photographers you can invite -- if you want, you can invite every photographer in a zip code.

How can this help? When you are presented with a list of photographers you don't know, or who have no record of prior performance, by inviting multiple photographers, you have a better chance of getting the job done the first time. Every photographer you select will be invited to "claim" the order; the first photographer to claim the order gets it. This ensures that your order will be handled by a photographer who wants to do the job.

When you select multiple photographers, you must be sure that you're willing to accept the range of fees and turnaround times offered by ALL of the photographers selected. It is possible that the first photographer to claim the job is also the most expensive photographer or the photographer with the longest turnaround time in the bunch.

Therefore, you must be sure to check ONLY those photographers whose fees and turnaround times you are willing to accept. Once you place an order by invitation, you cannot subsequently cancel the order because the photographer who claimed it is "too expensive" or "too slow".

Of course you always have the option of choosing just ONE photographer. You should only do this, however, when you are familiar with the photographer and want to use his or her services, or the photographer has a good record of prior performance in terms of number of orders completed, on-time performance, and customer feedback ratings.

Back to Top  Back to Top

How do I choose a photographer?
To help you manage the choice of photographers, we provide a set of tools that let you sort the photographer list. Clearly you should sort the list by price to see the range of charges from lowest to highest. You can also sort the list by feedback rating, on-time performance, number of orders, turnaround, and distance from property address. Sorting by distance allows you to see who is closest to the property you want to photograph. Proximity is one of the best determinants of successful completion!

We would suggest sorting by distance and price to see:
- Who is closest to the property;
- the range of fees offered to complete the job.

If you don't know the photographers or they have no record of prior performance, we recommend that you invite multiple photographers to compete for your order.

Back to Top  Back to Top

How long does it take?
The turnaround time is set by the photo service provider. In most metropolitan locations, you have a choice between Standard service - usually 3 to 5 business days in most areas - or Priority service - usually less than 72 hours. If you order Priority service (when available), you'll pay a higher price ONLY if we are able to deliver the photos within the time specified. Orders placed after 6:00 pm local time (that is, at the property location) are considered to be placed on the next business day. Please click here for more information.

Back to Top  Back to Top

Can I cancel an order after it has been placed?
No. Due to the short delivery schedules we are working under, once the order is placed, it cannot be canceled.

How many photos will you take?
We offer two photo service options: Basic Service and Custom Service.

Basic Service offers three options: Front and Rear (2 Photos); Front and Sides (2 Photos); All Sides (3 Photos). The first two photos are included in the fee. The charge is $2.00 for each additional photo up to eight photos. There is no charge for more than eight additional photos.

If you select "Front and Rear" (2 photos) the photographer will attempt to provide two photos of the property from opposite angles so you can see the front and one side in the first photo and the rear and other side in the second photo. If you select the "Front and Rear" option and there is no access to the rear, we will convert the order to the "Front and Sides" option, which provides two photos taken from the front of the subject property showing the front and each side. If you select the "All Sides" option, we'll provide two photos showing the front and each side, and a rear photo.

Custom Service lets you specify the specific photos you want us to take. You should use Custom Service if you need more than three photos of a property or if you want us to take photos that are not included in the Basic Service (for example, photos of the roof or the pool area). If this option is selected, you must indicate the number of photos you need and provide a description of the photos under "Special Instructions". As with the Basic Service, the first two photos are included in the fee and the charge for each additional photo (up to eight photos) is $2.00. There is no charge for more than eight additional photos.

When photos of a street or intersection are requested, the photographer will take the best available shots from 2 vantage points. If you would like a complete picture of the street/intersection (northbound, southbound, eastbound, westbound), select 4 photos. Any other requirements (attention to signage, etc.) should be requested under Custom Service.

When vehicles are selected, you must specify the number of photos you want and the views of the vehicle you need.

Back to Top  Back to Top

What if I need a rear photo and your photographer cannot access the back?
If you asked for a rear photo, but our photographer is unable to access the rear, we will provide two photos taken from the front of the property showing the front and each side.

What is the "Extra Photo Option"?
Sometimes we are asked to provide photos of apartment complexes or large commercial buildings, which cannot be adequately conveyed in two or three photos. Many times, our photographers find unusual hazards or deficient conditions at a property which require closeup shots. To provide the best service possible, we allow our photographers to provide extra photos of the risk, at their discretion, as needed. The charge is $2.00 for each additional photo. If you absolutely do not want the photographer to provide more photos than requested, set the "Extra Photos OK?" option to "No". This limits our photographer from taking any additional photos. If you do allow Extra Photos, the charge only applies up to eight additional photos. There is no charge for nine or more extra photos.

Back to Top  Back to Top

Can I forward the photos to someone else?
Yes, you can forward links to any or all of the photos or the photos themselves as attachments from the View Photos page to any e-mail address accessible on the Internet.

What if the photos are taken of the wrong property?
If the mistake is ours, because the photographer did not go to the property address you provided, we will retake the photos again at no charge. If the mistake was the result of a bad address you provided, we will be happy to provide service at the correct property address under a new order at full price. If you provided the wrong address, we are obligated to pay the photographer for their good faith effort to complete your order.

Is an appointment required?
With the exception of vehicle photos, that is up to you. If you know that the property is inside a gated community, or completely enclosed by a security wall or fence, you should tell us to contact the property owner. If the photographer is required to make an appointment, a $5.00 appointment charge will be added, and no attempt will be made to acquire the photo until an appointment has been set. If we are not required to make an appointment, the photographer will schedule a stop at his or her convenience, and the property owner will not be notified. If the photographer is unable to complete the assignment, a message will be sent to you explaining why.

Basically for residential and commercial properties the choice is yours. If you know the property is gated or guarded, you should require us to contact the property owner, and we will. If you don't tell us to contact the property owner, we will just visit the property during daylight hours to take the photos. In either case, if we are unable to access the property, a message will be sent to you, and the full price will be charged to your account.

For vehicle photos, however, an appointment is REQUIRED. If vehicle photos are ordered, the photographer will first try to contact the person you specified before attempting to obtain the photos. If the vehicle is not available at the appointed time and location, the job will be closed out and you will be charged for the attempt.

Back to Top  Back to Top

Can I rate my photographer?
Yes. You are able to rate your photographer on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best. The rating should be based on the quality of the photos and time service provided. The average rating will be visible to all other customers and will impact their decision to use the photographer's services. We encourage customers to provide feedback on every job so we can build a performance record for each photographer based on customer satisfaction.
